Charley Lingenfelter, 92, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. He was born to the late Luther and Verna Lingenfelter on July 30, 1931 in Jonesboro. Charley was a member of the Prospect Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro. Being a route salesman for many years suited his personality perfectly, because he loved to talk and meet new people. Charley never met a stranger, he could often be found sitting on his yard swing waving to the travelers on 351 as they drove past his house. He also loved gardening, going trail riding with his horses, and competing in horse drawn plowing competitions. In addition to his parents, Charley is preceded in death by his wife, Velva Lingenfelter; brother, Leonard Lingenfelter; sisters, Vella Sue Lingenfelter and Roberta Scarborough; and grandchildren, Mitch Barringer and Melissa Kellett.

Charley is survived by his sons, Sonny Lingenfelter (Marjorie) of Jonesboro and Terry Lingenfelter (Carolyn Poyner) of Jonesboro; brother, Jim Lingenfelter of Paragould; Lorene Clark of Jonesboro and Nadine Henderson of Jonesboro. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and several other family and friends.

The visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home on Friday.

The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home with Mike Book, Byron Griffey, and Danny Gartman speaking. Burial to follow at Pine Log Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Coty Lingenfelter, Ethan Lingenfelter, Scotty Henderson, Yogi Parnell, Steve Riga, and Ted McNatt.
