Mr. Braidwood was in his 81st year. He came from Roxburghshire, Scotland, to this country in 1841. Of his early years after coming here we find but little record, but soon he entered into business as a butcher with Mr. Wm. Ramsay, on North Water Street. Carrying this on for some time, the firm dissolved and went out of business, and from that time, if we mistake not, Mr. Braidwood principally occupied himself with dealing in hides, accumulating considerable means. Old age and the loss of his aged wife caused his withdrawal from active life, and for some years he has taken his ease, latterly, for the sake of companionship, residing with Mr. and Mrs. Rutherford. Mr. Braidwood was an active, cheery man, widely known and very much respected. He leaves one son, Mr. Wm. Braidwood, of Pontiac, Michigan, and three daughters, viz.: Mrs. John Rutherford, of Waterloo, Mrs. John Kay, and Mrs. John wells, of St. Catherine's.
Mr. Braidwood's funeral took place on Wednesday last, from Mr. Rutherford's residence, Waterloo, to Mount View Cemetery, Galt, being largely attended by his old friends.
