World War I Soldier. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he served for the United States during World War I. Ricketts entered the service from Ohio and was a Corporal in the 18th Company of the 5th Regiment with the United States Marine Corps. The regiment was part of the 2nd Division A.E.F. He was killed in battle in France six weeks before the war was declared over when he was 25 years old and was awarded the French Croix de Guerre. He is buried there at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery . A cenotaph in his memory was erected in his family's lot at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
