Bernice Esther "Bernie" Gant, of Naples, FL, died on November 10, 2023, after a long period of declining health. Born in Claremont, NH on February 28, 1943, to parents Joseph Omer and Christina (Therrien) Brooks.

Bernie was known for her never-ending energy. She loved hosting dinner parties, her famous Valentine's Brunch, as well as playing tennis, playing Canasta with the girls, shopping and going to the theater. In her younger years, Bernie worked at Woodbine Cottage in Sunapee, NH and The Queen Shoppe in Claremont, NH.

In 1962 she married Louis F. LaVaude, and they moved to Goffstown, NH where she ran an in-home daycare and started a family. In 1972 they moved to Newbury, NH where the family enjoyed skiing at Mt. Sunapee and summers on Lake Sunapee. Bernie served on the Newbury Select Board and worked as a real estate agent, until moving to Naples, FL in 1984. She owned a shoe store for a short time, became a personal assistant, and continued in real estate.

In 1987, she married Bob J. Gant and together they served as Captain and First Mate for several years and were members of the Naples Cruise Club. Bernie and Bob traveled extensively during their marriage, including time on their RV with their dog, Brutus, summering in New Hampshire for several years.

Bernie is predeceased by her first husband, Louis F. LaVaude, and her second husband Bob J. Gant.

Surviving are her three children, Leon O. LaVaude (Millie Sattler) of Naples, FL, Lisa L. Miyara (Richard Miyara) of Deerfield, NH, Lori L. Meding (Stephen Dupuis) of Wilmot, NH; also, Bob's children, Keith Gant, Joe Gant and Julie Williams; siblings John Brooks of Newbury, NH, Nancy Amell of Claremont, NH, Jeanne Corsetti of Sweetwater, TN; grandchildren Jocelyn Miyara, Louis Miyara, Eli LaVaude, Jakob LaVaude, Samuel Meding and Justin Williams; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will have a Celebration of Life in New Hampshire at a date to be determined.
