Carolyn Lee Carpenter, 81, of Shipshewana, died at 8:24 am on Monday, December 4 at Parkview Randallia Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born on September 6, 1942, in York, ME, to Freeman and Mary Dorothy (Brooks) Yoder. On March 9, 1999, in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, she married Alvin Jay Beechy, he survives. Survivors in addition to her husband are daughter, Mary Louise (Jonas) Miller of Middlebury; three sons, Jeff (Brenda) Carpenter of Shipshewana, Charles (Chris) Carpenter of Grand Haven, MI, Norman (Linda) Carpenter of LaGrange; stepdaughter, Annabelle Dawn Beechy of Shipshewana; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, eight step grandchild, five step great-grandchild; sister, Connie (Robert) Weaver Lancaster of Waukegan, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren; sister, Carmie Hardenson. Carolyn worked in local factories for 20+ years and was the owner/operator of Carolyn's Cut and Curl and Tanning Salon in Shipshewana for 47 years. She was currently attending Living Stones Christian Fellowship. She loved swimming and being in her pool, gardening and cooking. Carloyn and Al also enjoyed traveling, especially to the Tropics. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 7 and one hour prior to the 10:30 am funeral service on Friday, December 8 at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 South Main Street, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Pastor Ray Caples. Burial will be in Keightley Cemetery, Shipshewana. Memorials may be given to Living Stones Christian Fellowship.
