Franklin Lee Buss
January 24, 1943 – November 3, 2023

Franklin Lee Buss, was born in Los Angeles, California on January 24,1943 to Reint and Eula Buss. Franklin graduated to Heaven on November 3, 2023, at his home in Salem, Oregon; surrounded by his wife and family. Franklin is survived by his wife Jerry Lee Buss; his children Rachel Garrigues, Cindy (Patrick) Harrison, David (Cyndi) Buss; his grandchildren Codie (Marie) Harrison, Caleb Harrison, Julia Buss, Toby Buss, and Kirsten Buss; his great grandson William Harrison; his nephew Larry (Sharon) Allen, Terry Allen, and his niece Laureen (Pete) Tisei, as well as his great nieces and nephews.

In Seattle Washington, he attended and graduated from Highline High School in 1961. He held several part-time jobs, and attended Highline College, for which he received an Associate Arts Degree in 1966. From there he joined the Navy. Franklin served in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War, as a radar technician. He flew many classified missions searching for enemy submarines in American Waters on the Pacific Coast. He was stationed at Alameda Naval Base in California. He attended a local Baptist Church. At the end of his service to the Navy he talked with the pastor about attending a Bible College to study Theology. The pastor recommended Western Baptist Bible College (now Corban University). He attended in the winter of 1970, met Jerry in the kitchen of the college, married her in the summer of 1971, and graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Theology. His life verse was: Philippians 3:10: "That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death." Franklin had a private pilot's license and loved to fly. He also loved: hiking, the beach, reading theological works as well as World War II History, and playing his harmonica.

He drove bus for 29 years with the Salem Area Cherriots. He was loved by his passengers and coworkers. His coworkers affectionately called him "Low Gear" due to him being the last bus into the "Bus Barn" at night. Growing up, his late sister Gail nicknamed him Pancho which translated in English is Francisco. From then on, his entire family called him Pancho! Franklin was faithful to Jerry for 52 years. He kept his vows to her and God. Now he's walking with God face to face.
