William "Bill" J. Lindert, age 80 of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 30, 2023, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

A memorial gathering for Bill will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 11 am until the time of the memorial service at 1 pm with Pastor Paul Stratman officiating. A private burial at Highland Memory Gardens, Beaver Dam will take place at a later date.

William was born June 27, 1943, in Columbus to William and Edith (Grams) Lindert. Bill graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1961 and enlisted in the Army National Guard for two years. Bill was proud he got to serve his country. Bill was united in marriage to Andrea Gensch on December 26, 1964, at Salem Lutheran Church in Lowell, Wisconsin.

Bill was a skilled carpenter when he joined the Beaver Dam Fire Department where he was a firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician and Fire Inspector before retiring after 30 years of service. Bill owned and operated the well-known Lindert Sharpening Service in Beaver Dam for 50 years, only retiring when his health gave out. He also taught motorcycle safety classes for 20 years, his talents were many.

William is survived by his loving wife of almost 59 years Andrea, his children Todd (Edith) Lindert of Fort Atkinson, Tonya (Rick) Lueneburg of Hartford, granddaughters Heather (Benjamin) Kooiman of Fond du Lac and Heidi (fiancé Shawn Elert) of Wyocena, two great-grandsons, Elliot and Edwin Kooiman of Fond du Lac, one brother-in-law Harvey Pribnow, sisters-in-law, Agnes Lindert, Carol (Joel) Bradtke, Clarice Gensch, nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Harold Lindert, LaVerna Pribnow, Ethel Giese, Marian Schwartz, Betty Nell, Doris Nell, and brother-in-law Ray Gensch Jr.
