Pearl A. Dunbar, age 97, of Somerset, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Pearl was born on February 15, 1926 in Jabez, KY to the late Virgil and Alverta McGowan Polston. She loved to quilt and crochet. Pearl especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Dearl (and Ivalene) Dunbar of Somerset; a grandson, Brian Dunbar of Somerset; one brother, Royce (Ruth) Polston of Kyle, TX; one sister, Yvonne Johnson of Somerset; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Polston of Louisville, KY; and other extended family members, neighbors and close friends who have been so good to her.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris "Woolley" Dunbar, whom she married on December 14, 1945 in Russell County, KY and he preceded her December 30, 2016; and her siblings, Finis Polston, Leon Polston, Gilbert Lee Polston, Maxine (Oval) Lafavers, Joyce Carrender, Doyle Carrender and Vontrice Polston; and her brother and sisters-in-law, Brub (Jean) Popplewell, Keith (Lois) Dunbar, Sam (Sally) Dunbar, Charlene Dunbar and Doyle Johnson.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Polston officiating. Burial will be in the Military Springs Cemetery in Jabez, KY. Pallbearers will be Greg Polston, Scott Carrender, Will Bingham, David Bingham, Teddy Harris and Josh Harris.
The family request expressions of sympathy be made to Military Springs Cemetery Fund in memory of Pearl Dunbar. Donations may be mailed to Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1441, Somerset, KY 42502.
