McMAHON'S RITES WILL BE HELD FRIDAY.

Services for Mrs. E. P. McMahon, widely-known Lawton philanthropist, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Clayton Valder of Moscow, Idaho, a former pastor of the church for 13 years until his retirement, will officiate. He will be accompanied to Lawton by Mrs. Valder. Rev. Valder will be assisted by Dr. Charles E. Andrus, First Presbyterian pastor.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery beside Mrs. McMahon's husband and son. Becker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mrs. McMahon, who was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church, died about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at her home after a lengthy illness. She was 93.

The body will lie in state at the McMahon Foundation parlors, 716 C, Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Miss Jennie McCutcheon, constant companion and friend of Mrs. McMahon, said.

Death of Mrs. McMahon was attributed to advancing years. She had been an invalid under constant care for the past several years.

Flags in Lawton flew at half-mast today as the city mourned the death of the philanthropist who made lasting contributions to the civic, cultural, and educational enrichment of Lawton and Oklahoma.

Mayor Wayne Gilley eulogized Mrs. Mahon in asking for the city's highest honors to be paid in tribute to her. "We shall never forget the innumerable times she has shown her great faith and belief in the Lawton community, which she loved," the mayor said.

"It is because of such benevolent community leaders as Mrs. McMahon that other cities have looked to Lawton and said: 'They do things that can't be done.'"

Other relatives of Mrs. McMahon are several cousins living in Missouri. Among them are Oscar Stagner, a first cousin; and second cousins, Mrs. Maurice W. Chastain of Kansas City, Mrs. William O. Duncan of Weston, Mrs. George Grable, Agency, Mo., Mrs. R. A. Bywaters, Westfield, N. J., and Mrs. Lindville Davidson of Kansas City, widow of another cousin, the late Dr. Lindville Davidson.

Several are expected to attend the services as is also Leon Lewis of San Antonio, a long-time friend of Mrs. McMahon and her son. (The Lawton Constitution, February 9, 1966, p. 1).
