Byron Bates Taken By Heart Attack
Byron Bates, native of Scio and who lived in the vicinity since his birth until moving to Mill City about ten years ago, died suddenly, of a heart attack, 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Walter. He and Mrs. Bates had come from Mill City to visit in the Walter home when he was stricken.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton, and burial in Wieser cemetery.
Mr. Bates would have been sixty-four years of age 24 days hence. on January 1, 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle, four daughters and one son, viz: Mrs. Helen Stavang of Lyons, Mrs. Wilma Walter of Scio, Mrs. Ruth Edwards of Dayville, Mrs. Colleen Morgan of Mill City, and Donald Bates of Dallas; also eight grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Hazel Godwin of Albany, Mrs. Ora Montgomery , Mrs. Chrystal Limbeck, Oral Bates, Cecil Bates, and Roy Bates, all of Scio.
