Mrs. Herb (Alvina) C. Selissen, 100, a longtime Green Bay resident passed away on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at a local nursing home.
Alvina was born on Oct 13, 1903, in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late Eli and Elizabeth (Fitzgerald) Brouillard. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Escanaba, Mich. On may 8, 1928, she married Her Selissen at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral. Alvina was a member of the golden Age Club, enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles and listening to music.
Alvina is survived by four children, Edmund and Edie Selissen, Jeanette De Groot, all of Green Bay; Elaine MacDonald, fish Creek; Richard and Noreen Selissen, East Jordan, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Agnes Daul, Libby Hernes and Marie Van Langendon; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; also many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb in 1954; a son-in-law, Jack DeGroot; three sisters, Marcella Ziller, Lillian Nisja and Cecelia Fitzgerald; and one grandson, Billy MacDonald.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Schauer & Schumacher Funeral Home 340 S. Monroe Ave. Parish Wake Service 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Stint Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 9th St. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial at Allouez Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Manor Care West and Heartland Hospice for all the loving care and concern shown to Alvina.
