John was the fifth child born to Alexander Daniel and Serena Loftin. His siblings were Mary E., Sarah, Nancy, James, Alexander, Jr., Emma, Anna and Andrew Daniel.
John was born and raised in Burnt Corn. On Dec. 15, 1869, he married Mary Catherine Talbert at Perdue Hill. 1870 finds them at Dennard's Bluff, 1800 finds them at Claiborne until moving to Perdue Hill between 1900-1910. John died there in 1917.
