James Robert Nelson was the son of George Frederick "Fed" Nelson and Martha Jane Ashley. and the husband of Jerldina Zachery. He was born July 24, 1872 in Grayson County, Kentucky. He died on August 15, 1966 and was buried in the Nelson Cemetery north of Shrewsbury, Kentucky. His wife Jerldina, his sons David, Dwain, Earl, Raymond, Slayton, Vernie and Woodrow and his daughters Irene, Marjorie and Zilpha are all buried there in this small family cemetery.
