Henry Woodson Eanes was one of four known children born to Henry and Sarah Eanes Eanes (cousins). He married Elizabeth Church Griggs 22 January 1945 in Pittsylvania County at age 27. They had 11 children together. Elizabeth died sometime between 1880 and 1900, and Henry moved to Roanoke to reside with his daughter, Sallie Anne and her husband, James Giles Eanes (cousins). He died, however, at his other daughter's house, Harriett.

DIES AT AGE OF NINETY-FOUR

Henry Woodson Eanes, Native of Henry county, Dies at Daughter's Home in Roanoke

After reaching the grand old age of ninety-four years, Henry Woodson Eanes died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harriett Eanes, corner of Thirteenth street and Jamison Avenue, SE.

Mr. Eanes was born in Henry county, 6 Jan 1818. He married a Miss Eanes. He served as a confederate soldier through the four years of the civil war.

He is survived by the following children: Josiah Eanes, Martinsville; Isaac and Thomas Eanes, of Pittsylvania county; Charles E. Eanes, Roanoke; Mrs. Matilda Barrow, Martinsville; Mrs. Sallie A. Eanes and Mrs. Harriett Eanes, Roanoke.

The funeral will be held at the home this afternoon but the hour has not been announced. The body will be taken to Pittsylvania county Friday morning for interment.

NOTE: Obit did state that he was buried in Pittsylvania County, but the location is unknown. It is probably where his wife was buried.
