1913 - 2008
Edith Evelyn Mayton Chambers went to meet her Lord on Friday, April 18, 2008. Mrs. Chambers was born in Wheat (Mays Valley), Tennessee on September 9, 1913. She attended Maussup School for Girls and after graduation worked for a hosiery factory as an inspector during World War II. She has resided in Pensacola since 1956. She was employed by and retired after 25 years with Lerner Shops Incorporated. Mrs. Chambers was a former member of Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church of Lancing, TN.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Chambers; her parents, Thomas E. and Vida L. Mayton; two sons, Thomas C. Chambers, Sr. and James C. Chambers (infant); daughter, Barbara Sue Freeman; and nine siblings. She is survived by daughters, Janice V. Stultz and Patricia Pritchett(Earl); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was a resident of the Haven of Our Lady of Peace for the past six years and the family would like to thank Martha Perez and her entire staff for the care and consideration they provided Edith and her family. They wish to express a special word of thanks to Trinity Court.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Parkway. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service on Tuesday. Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Lee Waybright, Johnny Smith, Chuck Murphy, Jim Andrews, Buddy Evans, and Scott Craycraft.
