Edwin Lee Smith, 66, of Lakeland died Saturday, March 28, 1998, in Florida after suffering a stroke. He was a native of Logan County, W.Va., a retired maintenance worker from Kaiser Aluminum, a Baptist and a veteran of the Korean War.

Smith Jr. of Lakeland; brother, James Smith of Maryland; sisters, Betty Cole of Huntington, W.Va., Madeline Chaffin of Gallipolis, Ohio, Peggy Butcher of Texas, Evelyn Hinkle and Nadine Meade of Clarksville, Tenn., Irene Wellman of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Winefred Vallance of Inverness, Fla.; one granddaughter.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Collins-Slater Funeral Home, Switzer, W.Va. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby, W.Va. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
