He served his country as a member of the United States Navy.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. Burial will follow at Rehobeth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Benson.
Survivors are daughter, Melanie Carroll McDowell and husband, Mike; sons, Charlie Curtis Carroll, Jr. and wife, Mickey, and Mark Carroll and wife, Chris; grandchildren, Shannon Butz, Kristen Satterfield, Brandon Carroll, Jennifer Newton, Emily Carroll, April McDowell, Chris McDowell, Tom McDowell, Scott McDowell, Jami Jernigan, Christy Creech and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Morse and Elsie Rose Carroll and brothers Weldon, Vonnie Lee and Samuel Shelton Carroll.
