Mildred E. Garcia
September 14, 1946 - November 19, 2023

Mildred (Millie) Emily Garcia (77), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on November 19, 2023. Born in New Castle where she spent her early years before retiring to Oak Orchard. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Bernie Garcia, their three daughters, Staci Walls (Scott), Nicole Romano (Joe), and Denice Carello (Ralph), and her furry companion, Muffin. Each of her sons-in-law were more like a son to her, always competing to be the favorite.

Her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother brought her immeasurable joy, and her legacy of family values and dedication is reflected in the love she shared with her eight grandchildren: Scotty (Camille), Ryan, Paige, Madison, Zoey, Gianna, John Ryan, and Gavin. Additionally, she was blessed with five great-grandchildren: Paxton, Nicholas, Wyatt, Nolan, and Jaylanni.

Millie, a sister to Barbara Rossiter (Harry), was preceded in death by her parents Emily and John V. (Jack) Ryan, and brother Jake Ryan (Jane). She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Family was the most important thing in her life, and her unwavering love and support were evident in every aspect of her being. In addition to her roles as a homemaker and beautician, she dedicated 56 years of her life to the Ladies Auxiliary of Holloway Terrace Fire Company, serving as its president for 20 years.

A true lover of summer, Millie found love and joy in the coastal life. She enjoyed the beach, boating to sandbars, and fishing with her family. Some of her fondest childhood and adult memories were spent during her summers in Dewey Beach, where she could be found with an orange crush in hand.

She will always be remembered for her delicious dishes that brought people together. Additionally, her shuffleboard skills were legendary, adding an element of friendly competition to gatherings. She was known for being the life of the party and her infectious spirit and love for fun created countless cherished memories for all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family will be honoring Millie's wishes with a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either to the Ladies Auxiliary of Holloway Terrace Fire Company or Delaware Hospice in her memory. The family extends their gratitude to Delaware Hospice for their compassionate support.
