Glenna Ilene DeLung, 97, of Princeton, West Virginia passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 18th, 2023. Born March 9th, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Clara Elmore of Princeton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Alvin Wayne "Pete" DeLung, and her brother, Raymond "Jack" Elmore.
Glenna will be fondly remembered by all those who knew her for her incredible resilience, remarkable strength, and her warm, nurturing presence. Glenna was the matriarch of her family, and her home was always the center of many cherished holidays, birthday parties, and family dinners. She knew exactly how to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, and she enjoyed having a house full of family members and friends.
Glenna spent much of her life as a homemaker, skillfully cooking favorite family recipes, raising children and grandchildren, and organizing family events. She was also fiercely independent and deeply enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends. She was a devoted, charter member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church, and she spent a great deal of her time in her later years taking part in various church events and traveling with the church's D.M.A. (Don't Mention Age) group.
Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Barbara Wood and husband Jim of Princeton, WV, and Donna Meadows and husband David of Christiansburg, VA; three grandchildren, Heather Bostic and husband Greg of Princeton, WV, Holly Carroll and husband Ernie of Oakvale, WV, and Jimmy Wood and wife Shana of Bland, VA; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Meadows Shelton and husband Skylar of Christiansburg, VA, Autumn Wood and Abigail Wood of Princeton, WV, and McKenzie Carroll of Oakvale, WV; one great-great-granddaughter, Juniper Wood, of Princeton, WV; two loving caregivers, Patty Scott and Rhonda Dinger, both of Princeton, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. John King and Rev. Dan Thyng officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
