LORAINE ~~ C. J. Yancey, 83, died at his home in Loraine early Thursday morning.

Born in Fulton County, Arkansas January 14, 1879, he had lived in Mitchell County for 39 years and in Loraine the past 18 years. He was a retired farmer and a member of the First Methodist Church of Loraine.

He and Mattie Belle Daniel were married in Mangum, Texas, August 31, 1902. She died in September 1961.

Funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Kiker and Son Chapel. The Reverend Frank Story, pastor of the First Methodist Church in Loraine will officiate.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker and Son Funeral Home.

Survivors include two sons, Elton R. of Big Spring and Clifton C. of Lovington, New Mexico; one daughter, Mrs. Grady Sparks of Loraine; one brother, Wiley Yancey of Snyder; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
