Elizabeth Evelyn (Liza) Collingwood, an actress, known as Elizabeth Colvin, born at Wimbledon, 23 April, 1924, the only daughter (with two brothers) of Brigadier Sydney Collingwood, CBE, CMG, MC (b. 1892), late the Royal Artillery, of The Croft, Dedham, Essex, by his 1st wife (they wed in 1915), Charlotte Annie, daughter of Colonel James Charles Oughterson, late the 18 Royal Irish Regiment, of Greenock.
Gerald and Angela Lascelles did not divorce until 1978, in which year he was granted permission (under the terms of the Royal Marriages Act) to wed Miss Collingwood. It was understood then that a descendant of the Royal House could not marry in a civil ceremony in England or Wales, so the couple married at Vienna, 17 November, 1978, where Gerald's cousin Prince Michael of Kent has also recently married Baroness Marie-Christine von Reibnitz.
Gerald Lascelles's home with his first wife had been at Fort Belvedere Windsor, once the favourite home of his uncle and godfather, King
Edward VIII, later Duke of Windsor. With Elizabeth he made his
home at Sigoules, France, where he died, 27 February, 1998. It was here that she died 14 th January 2006 and their ashes were scattered in the garden of their home.
Mrs Lascelles is survived by her only child, Martin, and grandchildren,
Georgina and Alexandre.
The cremation takes place 20 January, 2006, at Notre Dame de Sanilhac
24660 Perigueux, France .
