Moses S. Eisenhart was born on December 18, 1837 in Macungie/Allentown area, PA. He was one of the 13 children of Benjamin (1803-1878) and Catharine Seibel (1807-1868) Eisenhart. The family moved to Bingen, PA which is between Hellertown and Center Valley with records showing that Benjamin started with a purchase of 136 acres from the Apple family in 1848. He continued to purchase additional land with the idea that his sons would buy him out as soon as they could. Moses was operating the Spring Valley Inn with its trout ponds and purchased it from his father in 1875. The Inn was still in business and was the site for the Eisenhart Reunions in 2007 and 2008.

Moses married Maryette (Marietta) Kemmerer (December 22,1839-November 22,1868) of Palmer Township on July 8, 1860 at. St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Easton,PA. Maryette died of typhoid fever on November 22, 1868 leaving 3 children...Alice (8), Lizzie (5) and Edwin (4 months). Alice and Edwin went to live near Tatamy, PA along the Bushkill on a farm operated by Maryette's parents Jesse (1813-1881) and Sarah Abel (1813-1885) Kemmerer. Elizabeth stayed with her father in Bingen. Maryette is buried in the cemetery behind the New Jerusalem Lutheran Church on Bingen Road.
