OBITUARY OF JOSEPH EPHRAIM GARNER

HOOPER – Joseph Ephraim Garner, 91, pioneer of Hooper, died this morning at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Garner was an active member of the LDS Hooper First Ward and was the oldest living high priest in the Lakeview Stake Quorum. He was also active as a ward teacher.
He formerly served as water master for the Hooper Irrigation Company. Until his retirement he operated a farm.
He was born March 23, 1863, in Slaterville, a son of William and Mary Field Garner. When he was a boy his family moved to Hooper where he had resided with the exception of 10 years in Kanesville.
On February 20, 1884, he married Mary Wadsworth in the Salt Lake Endowment House. Mrs. Garner died January 10, 1951.
Surviving are one son and five daughters: Orlin L Garner, Mrs. Orson (Zina) Cottle, Mrs. Ben (Virgie) Manning. Mrs. Frank Lavon) Read, Hooper, Mrs. Effie Chaple, Ogden, Mrs. Frank (Edith) Arave, Taylor, Idaho, 38 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the LDS Hooper First Ward Chapel. Bishop Mack S. Taft officiating.
Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Funeral Chapel, 3408 Washington Blvd. tomorrow from 6 to 9 p.m. and at the family home Monday afternoon and evening and Tuesday until 1:30 p.m.
Interment will be in the Hooper Cemetery.
