Mrs. Alwood was born in DeWitt County, a daughter of James and Bertha Lewis Bateson. She married John Alwood, Dec. 24, 1926 at Farmer City. He died in 1971.
Surviving are four sons, Joseph, Claude, John and Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Lane , Mrs. Jessie Monkman and Mrs. Dorothy Sutton; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Prakel, Mrs. Dora Bell Winziril, Mrs. Leona Harney,and Mrs. Goldie Riggs; two brothers, John and Claude Bateson and thirty-three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Clarence and David; and one daughter, Pauline Frances, later two died in infancy.
