Joyce E. Hosey, 85, of Laurel, went home to be with her Lord on November 14, 2023, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi on January 15, 1938, to J.O. and Edna Welborn Pippen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Kenneth Hosey; stepson, Wendell Hosey; sister, Sue King; brother, Jimmy Pippen; and grandson, Brenton Ulmer.
She is survived by her two sons, Joseph "Joey" (Sonya) Ulmer, of Laurel and Tony Ulmer of Benton, Arkansas and daughter, Ginger (Joseph) Walters, of Laurel; five grandchildren, Amber Ulmer of Laurel, Reed Ulmer of Nashville, Tennessee, Chase Ulmer of Rogers, Arkansas, Joshua and Ella Walters of Laurel; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kaitlyn Parker; step-daughter, Karen Wheeler of New Mexico and her family; step-daughter-in-law, Barbara Hosey of Laurel and her family; a host of nieces and nephews.
Joyce was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Laurel. She retired from Deposit Guaranty Bank in 1998. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, completing various types of puzzles, and spending time with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mission at the Cross in Laurel, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, from 1-2 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sharon Cemetery. Reverend Gene Douglas and Reverend Bill Blair will officiate. Pallbearers will be Darren Pippen, Dan Myrick, Joseph Walters, Reed Ulmer, Chase Ulmer, and Andrew Parker.
