Benjamin Allen enlisted in and was mustered in Company H of the Reorganized Fourth Michigan Infantry on October 5, 1864 at Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. He died of disease (typhoid-malarial fever) in the U. S. Barracks General Hospital at New Orleans, Louisiana.
