Bennie was born on January 11, 1951 in Ashburn to the late Hugh E. and Effie Scoggins Metcalf. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed working and everything to do with farming. He loved working with his cows and riding his gator. When he wasn't working, he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed going out to eat with his family and spending time with his dog, Chloe. Bennie enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandkids. He enjoyed and looked forward to attending church.
He is survived by his sons, Steven (Kayla) Metcalf of Sycamore and Matthew (Heather) Metcalf of Sycamore; daughter, Kristen (Andy) Carter of Sycamore; brother, Dennie Metcalf of Tifton; grandchildren, Graham Metcalf, Halle Metcalf, Ava Kelley, Leland Metcalf, Grace Kelley, Macy Metcalf, Mady Metcalf, Allie Metcalf, Ethan Carter, Rylan Carter and Wyatt Nutt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Wheeler Metcalf.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family greeted friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of services Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church.
