DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT.
Mrs. Wm. Wicks.
The death occurred on Sunday last, of Mrs. Wicks, senr., relict of the late Mr. Wm. Wicks, of Bettington -street, Merriwa, who predeceased her about 3½ years ago. The late Mrs. Wicks, who was one of Merriwa' s oldest and most highly respected residents, had been indisposed for some considerable time past, and her end was not altogether unexpected. Deceased is survived by a family of four daughters and three sons, namely, Mesdames R. Hunt, Viv. Daniels, J. J. Cronin (Merriwa), R. J. Daniels,(Gungal), Messrs. W. Wicks (Muswellbrook), Leo and Jack Wicks (Merriwa). There are also 60 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The funeral took place on Monday morning last, and was largely attended, the remains ,being interred in the Roman Catholic portion of the local cemetery. The Rev. Father Moylan officiated at the Church and the grave-side.
The "News" extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones. :0:
