Per the Munson Record, pg.569, Sgt. John Munson joined 4000 New Englanders who set sail 4.4.1745 for Nova Scotia during the ongoing French & Indian Wars. This segment (1645-8) was called "King George's War" in America. The French settlement at Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island was the source of French privateers that were plundering New England ships.
4 British warships reinforced the armada. A night assault on May 26th won the battle. Sixty New Englanders were killed, including John Munson.
