Dixie Lou Campbell Barziza, 86, passed in peace on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at home with her family. Dixie was born in Bronson, Texas on May 16, 1937, and attended a one room schoolhouse in Buna, Texas. She graduated just after turning seventeen and was senior class valedictorian of Buna High School in 1954. After attending Jacksonville Baptist College for two years, she transferred to the University of Texas in Austin to finish her bachelor's degree in science with a Medical Technology Certification. She settled in Houston in 1961 and began working as a Medical Technologist at Herrmann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Not long after arriving in Houston, she met a handsome young volleyball player by the name of Jim Barziza. They flirted a little on the volleyball court, flirted a little off the volleyball court and on August 31, 1962, found themselves at Immanuel Lutheran Church vowing to love one another forever.

They were blessed with three daughters, three sons-in-law, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Dixie, or Mamma as she was also known, loved her family very much. She loved Jesus and being involved with her church through Sunday school, Bible study group, and Stephen Ministries. She also loved being around her family doing all sorts of fun things. Tent camping, glamping in RV's, hiking, exploring, jet-setting around the world, going out to favorite restaurants and just hanging out at home playing train.

Dixie was predeceased by her loving husband, Jim Barziza, her parents, Richard L. Campbell, and Adria A. McGown and sisters-in-law Jerry Brock and Bess Queen. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-grandchildren. 2 Sisters, and a Brother (and their spouses). Along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family would also like to thank the staff at Harbor Hospice for their support and assistance in caring for our mom.
