Alice died near Missouri City (50 miles southeast of Houston) while enroute to Velasco, Texas - a soon-to-be boom town on the Gulf Coast. Her death was caused by lingering effects of a difficult childbirth the previous December. Her husband and infant son soon returned to Kansas City, Missouri. The father remarried and died in Kansas City in 1929. The son moved to Arizona where he worked in the copper mines and as a blacksmith.
