She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Before her disability in her years she was employed as a Telephone Operator at the C and P Telephone Company.
Valerie was a very friendly kind-hearted person who helped anyone that came her way. She loved out for her elderly an sick friends. She loved kids and especially her stuffed animals. Valerie was known as "Grandmother" of all to her many friends and neighbors.
She leaves to mourn: her brother, Reginald Rivers; six sisters, Sylvia Lee, Cynthia Rivers, Olivia Pugh, Acquanetta Johnson, Deborah Rivers, and was preceded in death by Gloria Thompson; sister-in-law, Ellen Rivers; three brothers-in-law, Gaylen Lee, Dennis Pugh and Vernon Johnson; her longtime friends, Pamela and Charles; her card buddies, Sonya and Rose; and a special and devoted friend, Sharon. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, all who will miss her dearly.
