Roger Morris Aanonsen, 89, of Hermantown, passed away on October 22, 2023.

Roger was born August 7, 1934 in Duluth, MN to Martha and Hans Aanonsen. Having been a Hermantown resident for most of his life, he graduated from Hermantown High School in 1952 then went to work as a lineman for Northwestern Bell in North Branch, MN. It was here that he met the love of his life, Nancy Lee Edwardson. The two were married on August 31, 1963. In 1969, they moved back to Hermantown where they raised their three boys.

Roger retired from AT&T after 36 years of service. He also served in the Duluth Air National Guard for 30 years. He was an avid bowler and played on leagues for many years, sharing the game with his sons and grandson. Along the way, he made many friends. Roger was the kind of person who knew at least one person everywhere he went. Once he met you, he would remember your name and likely the names of your closest relatives. The greatest joy in his life was his family and he never missed a game or event for his sons or grandkids.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; sister, Helen (Aanonsen) Greer; and brother, Hubert Aanonsen.

Roger is survived by his sons, Troy (Geri) Aanonsen, Todd (Toni) Aanonsen and Turk (Tari) Aanonsen; grandchildren, McKayla (Marcel) Meacham, McKenzie, Tira and Lukas Aanonsen; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation to be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4th at Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM and reception to follow. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with Nancy. In lieu of flowers, please direct gifts to Grace Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund.
