He married Lela Jane Hickman at Bona, Missouri, Oct. 29, 1903. They made their home at Pawnee, Oklahoma,later moving to Quay in 1919. He was a machinist with Magnolia Oil Company until 1929. Other places of residence were Norfolk and then to Stillwater, Okla., in 1947. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a member of IOOF, Lodge #14.
His wife survives as do two sons, Hubert Tefertiller of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Carl Tefertiller of Snyder, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Clara) Flowers, of Tulsa, and Mrs. Raymond (Gladys) Going, Stillwater, Okla.,; seven grand children, 10 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Carmack of Greenfield, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Strode Funeral Chapel for Alva Monroe Tefertiller, who died June 22, 1974, at Rosewood Manor. He was 97.
Pallbearers were Lester Going, Henry Ticer, Floyd Going, Gilbert Criswell, Paul Burch, Floyd Turner, Miner Hall, Otto Ramsey, Leo Bowers, Gale Kimball, Jack Creech, George James and Will C. Wyatt.
Dr. L. E. Whitley officiated and the Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater, Oklahoma under the direcion of Strode.
