Obituary for Clara A. Walker Becker
Clara A. Walker Becker, 94, of Terre Haute, formerly of Rushville & Metamora, passed away September 21, 2023 in Terre Haute. Clara was born August 26, 1929 in Lewis County, KY to Frank W. & Estella E. (McDonald) McCleese. She married Ramon Walker on January 16, 1948 and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1983. Clara later married Keith Becker on November 9, 1985 and he preceded her in death on August 24, 2012.
She & Ramon owned & operated the Airport Inn in Rush County for 17 years until a fire destroyed the property in 1963. Clara went to work for the Rushville Pharmacy where she worked as a cosmetologist for 26 years.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Rushville and had been attending the Oregon Baptist Church in Terre Haute the past several years. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority.
Clara will be missed by her sons, Clarke (Patricia) Walker of St. Charles, MO, Kenneth (Connie) Walker of Terre Haute and Bruce (Pamela) Walker of St. Charles, MO, daughter-in-law, Molly (Dennis) Chasteen of Hope, step sons, Eric (Melody) Hopkins and Howard (Vicky) Hopkins all of Connersville, step daughters, Joy (Mike) Koons of Connersville and Sherri (Will) Chapelow of Laurel, several grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands,a son, Mark Walker, grandson's, Scott & Derk Walker, brothers, Richard, Frank, Herbert & infant Avery McCleese and sisters, Audrey Stout, Elsie Palmer, Olive Daniels and infant Barbara McCleese.
Services will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, September 27, 2023 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Eric Hopkins presiding. Friends are welcome to visit the family from 11 AM until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
