Mr. Parnell was born on May 24, 1919, in Pecan Gap to Augusta and Emma Parnell. He attended schools in California and Draw and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and of the First United Methodist Church in Brownfield.
He married the love of his life, Leona Poh, on April 27, 1947, in California. The memories that he leaves will be his love of chocolate pie and woodworking. All the kids around called him "Papaw Bill". He would do anything he could for anyone.
Bill is survived by his wife Leona of the home, one sister-in-law, Harriett Parnell of Irving, Calif., two grandsons and three granddaughters. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Kissinger, and three sisters and two brothers.
