Mabel's father died when she was only 10 years old. They were living near Dougherty at the time.
While living in Suplhur, OK, Mabel met Palmer Burreson and they were married there in Aug 1923.
Palmer and Mabel Burreson had six children: Dola Lee (married Earon Blum), Ruthhelen (married Samuel Freeman Vise), Cathryn (married Lynn Grier), Ralph (married Debra Burrage), Cora (married 1.Donald Hutchings, 2.Bill Wilson), Arazella (married Robert Lyster).
Mabel worked for Leslie's Fried Chicken (aka the Chicken Shack) in Waco for 10 years. She managed The Big Boy Burger in Killeen, TX. After retiring to Valley Mills, TX she worked at The Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton and the Valley Mills Nursing Home in Valley Mills, TX.
She was known for making many beautiful hand made quilts.
She loved to travel and was able to make many trips to visit her home place in Oklahoma and to visit her father's home near Lawrence, KS. And to visit Fairfield County, Connecticut where her ancestors lived before moving to Kansas.
Mabel passed away 26 Jun 2002 at age 97.
