Ruby A. Stringfield, 79, of Eaton, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C., following a brief illness.

Born Feb. 21, 1925, in Sunbright, Tenn., she was the daughter of Bill and Helen (Frogg) Coffey. She married Wilbur E. Stringfield on Dec. 24, 1940. She retired from the Inland Division of General Motors, having worked at both the Dayton and Vandalia plants. She was a member of Stringfield Chapel Church in Sunbright.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbur E., on Dec. 28, 1976; a son, Randall Stringfield; and an infant daughter.

Survivors include her children, Linda (Paul) Shaffer of West Alexandria, Brenda (John) Davidson of Lewisburg, Daniel Stringfield and Phyllis (John) Hill, both of Clover, S.C., Larry (Olga) Stringfield and Diana (Earl) Couch, both of Eaton, Patricia (Larry) Back of Hamilton, and Zelma (Rodney) Wise of Falling Waters, W. Va.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, James and Bill Coffey of Harriman, Tenn.; and sister, Barbara Coffey of Harriman, Tenn.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 1, at Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens, West Alexandria, with Pastor George W. Pennington officiating. Burial was in Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
