Raymond Edward Boyd, 85, of Blue Springs, formerly of Marshall, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at his home.
Born July 9, 1922, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Frank James Boyd and Luena Alice Buie Boyd. He was a graduate of Marshall High School and was a U.S. Army/Air Force veteran of World War II. He had lived in Blue Springs since 1980, previously living in San Diego, Calif., and was a retired truck driver, having worked for Yellow Freight for over 25 years. He had also been a supervisor for Roar Aerodynamic. He was a member of American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs and Elks Lodge No. 2509.
Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Valetta and her husband, Jerry, of Huachuca City, Ariz.; two grandchildren, LaNora Brandon of Newport, R.I., and Wally Morris and his wife, Kristie, of Great Lakes, Ill.; two great-granddaughters, Shenandoah R. Morris and Cheyenne "Haunani" Morris; one sister, Dorothy Sleeper and her husband, Vernie, of Marshall; one brother, Frank Boyd Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James W. Boyd, and one sister, Vivian Larson.
