He couldn't read or write Italian or English. He had to be taught how to write and spell his name when he took his citizenship test. He came to America as a pre-teen alone and with nothing, managed to open and run a Junk Yard with his wife Maria that supported their family. And he fed many others during the depression that were broke. Very proud of my strong, generous Grandparents!
