Staff Sergeant Robert Charles Bahl III, 38, of Elliottsburg, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Hershey Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on October 2, 1969 in Graham, Texas the son of Robert C. Bahl II and Carolyn Bahl.

Robert was a member of the 193rd Special Operations Wing in Middletown. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran having served in Operaton Desert Shield/Storm and Enduring Freedom. His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with Device, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Reserve Medal, Global War on Terror Medal, Pennsylvania Governors Unit Citation, Pennsylvania Major General Thomas R. White Jr. Medal, Pennsylvania General Thomas J. Stewart Medal, Pennsylvania Commendation Medal, and the Louisiana Emergency Service Medal.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #109, Mechanicsburg.

Robert had an enthusiastic zeal for life and touched everyone he met. He was an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. He also enjoyed bowling at ABC West Lanes in Mechanicsburg.

He attended Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill. He participated for several years on the church softball league and he also hit the greens with the golf league.

Robert is survived by his wife: Rebecca of Elliottsburg; his parents of Graham, Texas; one sister: Amy of Bryson, Texas and her two sons: Lane and Tyler; sister-in-law: Deb and her husband, Dean and son, Matthew; brother-in-law: Terry and his son: Michael; brother-in-law: Dale and his wife, Vicki and their children: Thomas and Sarah; brother-in-law: Daniel and his wife, Julie and their daughter: Lindsey; brother-in-law: John and his wife, Brenda; niece: Christa of Muncy; nephew: Eric of Kadena Air Base, Japan; and, several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Texas.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at Christian Life Assembly, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill with the Rev. Bob Kapp officiating. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:45 AM in the church.

Burial will follow in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 02:00 PM.
