Obituary
John Wesley Whitten passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 45 in Columbus, Ohio. Johnny was born on June 12, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a beloved husband to Kimberly and a loving father to John Delwyn (Emily Stellar), Jenna, and Teagan Whitten. Johnny adored his granddaughter, Autumn Whitten. Johnny is survived by his father, John Irwin, and his sister, Christine Petty. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Whitten, his sister, Elizabeth Whitten, and his son, Talan John. Johnny was also a caring brother-in-law to Matthew Petty, Matt Ambrosino, and to sister-in-law Kelly Ambrosino, and a beloved son-in-law to Skip and Judy Morgan. He will be missed by his aunt Cheryl (Dennis) Landon and uncle Michael (Barb) Eagleson and nieces Mandi (Jacob) Lawson, Hannah Fields, Grace Ambrosino, and nephews Zach (Jaycie) Petty, Ethan Fields, and Joesph Ambrosino and he was a great uncle to Lillian Grace, Sadie Mae, Oliver Reid (Olliepop), Ivy Elizabeth and to his fur babies Steel and Koda and we cannot forget Rosie as well as many other extended family members and friends. Johnny graduated from Groveport Madison High School and went on to work for Nationwide Children's Hospital for over 20 years. He was dedicated to his work and made a lasting impact on the lives of many. Johnny was someone who never met a stranger. Everyone that knew him loved him. He was everybody's best friend. He was a bright light in darkness. He would give the shirt off his back. His smile lit up a room and he was the funniest human beings anyone has ever known. He made everyone feel at ease no matter what was going on in his life. He always made sure those around him felt loved.

He was a dedicated Buckeye fan through and through, and his passion for sports extended to enjoying games in Pittsburgh with his family. He enjoyed watching his children play sports and also coached during his sons' middle school years and loved volunteering at his daughter's lacrosse games. Johnny possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the movie 'The Goonies,' able to recite every line with precision, even if it sometimes tested the patience of his family. Additionally, he found great enjoyment in his membership as a Master Mason at Lithopolis Lodge #169. The lodge is to make a good man better. He also had a passion for fantasy football and built strong friendships through his participation in a league over the past several years. Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude for all the support from Pastor Paul Barnes as well as the Madison Christian Family.

In lieu of flowers, friends and well-wishers are kindly invited to make donations in Johnny's memory. Contributions can be directed to either Nationwide Children's Hospital to support their crucial work, or to the American Cancer Society, as Johnny's mother was tragically lost to the disease. Your support will help make a positive impact in honor of Johnny's memory.

Family receiving hours will be Friday, November 10th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with service beginning immediately afterwards at Madison Christian Church in Groveport, Ohio. The address is 3565 Bixby Rd, Groveport, OH 43125

*Worked with Johnnie on the family tree, he loved every little story pre1900's, he loved learning about ancestors and their trials and tribulations. He was an all-around good guy who enjoyed life.
