Armilda Philbina Jeffrey was born on July 7, 1913 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Philip and Carrie (Lippert) Purpur. Armilda grew up and attended school in Grand Forks, North Dakota. On October 18, 1930 she was united in marriage to Francis Jeffrey in Crookston, Minnesota. Armilda and Francis's home was the gathering place for all the neighborhood children.Armilda was a charter member of First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, Minnesota.

Armilda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis on January 28, 1993, two daughters; Vonnie Fingarson and Lois Corbid, three sisters Betty, Helen and Florence, three brothers; John, Sig, and Harry Purpur.
