On November 3, 2023, the world lost a humble, honest and truly funny man. Our father, Louis N. Hufnagel, age 97, passed away at Hospice of Lansing - Stoneleigh Residence.

Louie was born in Fowler, Michigan, on April 21, 1926, the son of Louis and Eleanor (Sohn) Hufnagel.He married Helen Pavlik on October 8, 1949, and they were married for 59 years at the time of Helen's death, June 11, 2009.Louie served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Infantry Division during World War II. He owned and operated the Mt. Hope Grocery & Party Store for 38 years, retiring in 1990.

He is survived by his six children, Tom (Michele) Hufnagel, Terri (Walt) Czubak, Janet (Dan) Van Acker, Cathy (Tom) Baker, Mary Kay (Dave) Hannah and Bill (Kim) Hufnagel. His grandchildren: David (Nicole) Czubak, Kelly (Mark) Watters, Jeff (Anne) Czubak, Monica (Zack) Shaver, Eric (Rachel) Hufnagel, Renee (John) McGarry, Katie (Andrew) Whiteaker, Matt (Erin) Hannah, Erin (Kevin) Lucchino, Mason (Karah) Hannah, Josh (fiancée Rachel Joseph) Baker, Christina Baker, Natalie Hufnagel, Nicki Hufnagel and Nina Hufnagel and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Anita Daly, in-laws Art Trierweiler and Jean Pavlik and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 9th at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy, Lansing, with the Rev. Fr. Bob Bacik as celebrant. A luncheon will follow the funeral mass at St. Gerard's Parish Hall. Rite of committalwill be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
