Funeral services will be Sat., April 19, for Howard Wayne Palmer Jr., 56, Los Angeles, Calif., former area resident, who died on April 13, 2008, in Los Angeles. The Rev. Gary Lissy will officiate in Lake Madison Lutheran Church, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Prayer services will be Friday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel

Palmer was born on Sept. 22, 1951, at Madison to Marilyn (Holvick) and Howard Palmer Sr. He grew up in Kansas, Georgia, Texas, Germany and France. He spent summers in Rutland, where he graduated from high school. In 1970, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the submarine service until 1980. He worked for Gulf Interstate Energy in Exton, Pa., for eight years and then was self-employed in the computer field from 1988 until most recently, when he was working as a commercial property manager in Los Angeles.

He married Laura Birgen on Feb. 20, 1976, at Madison.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of East Fallowfield, Pa.; his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Thaddeus Jackson of Annapolis, Md.; two brothers, Jeffry Jackson of Connecticut, and Douglas Jackson of Mt. Airy, Md.; and five sisters, Barbra Crist of Severna Park, Md., Jody O'Dell of Hiawasee, Va., Rebecca Hancock of Gambrills, Md., Thaeda Franz of Reading, Pa., and Tena Jackson-Quesada of Costa Rica.

He was preceded in death by his father and a sister.
