Funeral services for Emilie Ann Laney, age 82, of LaFayette will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Roanoke Church of Christ with Bro. S. G. Gray, Bobby Laney, Brad Terry, and Bro. Gerald Romine officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Memorial Park (Resthaven Cemetery) with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Saturday before services begin.
Mrs. Laney passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.
Survivors include two daughters, Dena Wages (Scott) and Debbie Butler (Jimmy), both of LaFayette; one son, Herschel Ladale Laney of Auburn; six grandchildren, Jim Butler, Crystal Butler, Brian Morgan, Brent Morgan, Eric Laney, and Brandon Laney; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Joann Morgan of LaGrange, GA.
Pallbearers will be Jim Butler, Eric Butler, Brian Morgan, Brent Morgan, Kaleb Laney, Tak Butler, and Eric Laney.
A West Point, Georgia native, Mrs. Laney was born on February 21, 1941, the daughter of Rae and Margie Posey Lamb. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Laney loved spending time with her family and she was that special "Nannie" to many people. She was infectious with her smile and personality. To know her was to love her. Mrs. Laney loved talking to people and giving hugs. She was one of a kind and never met a stranger. Mrs. Laney was a member of the LaFayette Church of Christ for 61 years until it closed in 2020 and then she became a member of the Roanoke Church of Christ. She loved her church family. Mrs. Laney worked at Playtex, which later became Russell Corp, as a bundler/supervisor from 1958-2001. In 2002, she began working for King Ford and was there until 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Herschel Laney; and a brother, Richard Jordan.
