Carpenter, Joiner, Cabinetmaker.
Son of Jacob Fetter and Catharina Smith.
Married 23 Dec 1824 in 1st Evan Luth Ch, Carlisle, Cumberland Co PA to Mary Wise.

William Samuel Fetter's grandson was Dr. Frank Albert Fetter, 1863-1949, Professor and Head of Economics at Princeton University (WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, v. 11, 1920-21, p. 938). His great grandsons were Dr. Frank Whitson Fetter, b. 1899, Professor of Economics at Nor thwestern University, and Theodore Henry Fetter, VP & Producer of ABC-TV (WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA, v. 36, 1970-71, p. 711).

MIL: Capt in War of 1812 (not likely as he would only have been 14 yrs old!)

Jacob Fetter 1796-1878:
Was wounded in his hand in War of 1812 by a British bayonet while trying to stop the British soldiers who were trying to land by boat at Baltimore.
He had enlisted at age 16 in Carlisle Guards.
After the War of 1812, he was a building contractor in Carlisle, then a cabinetmaker and undertaker, coachmaker (1835), then in the iron business of Alexander FETTER & HOYT. 1858-61 moved to Iowa; 1861 moved to Chambersburg PA.
His brother known as "The General" Henry Fetter of Landisburg was also wounded in War of 1812 - perhaps at the Battle of Sandy Hook.
His other brother Samuel Fetter was also in War of 1812.

Samuel Fetter married Mary Weise by Rv B. Keller, 1st Evan Ch, Carlisle, Cumberland Co, PA, both from Carlisle (she was dau of George & Rebecca Weise).

1814 WILL of George Weise, Northern half of Lot # 146, 16-22 N. Hanover St, Carlisle, Cumb Co, PA, with Brick House given to wife Rebecca and his five children: Hendricks, John , James, Mary, and Rachel (SDA-139, 1-NN-468).

2 Story brick house and half lot on W side of N Hanover St (16-22) in Carlisle from Rebecca (widow of George Weise) and children (Henrdricks & wife Elizabeth Weise, John Weise, Samuel & wife Mary Weise Fetter, Rachel R Sheaffer) to Thomas Hennessy for $1500. All are from Carlisle. Originally acquired 7 May 1801 from a Sheriff's Deed.
