Bert Catlin was at Wethersfield last week to help care for his father James Catlin who passed away last

week Thursday With pneumonia. The funeral was held at the Evangelical church last Sunday at Wethersfield Springs.

CIVIL WAR VETERAN: Enlisted November 4, 1861 at North Java, NY. Served with the 9th NY Cavalry, Company G, in the Virginia Peninsula Campaign, Gen. George B. McClellan commanding - Siege of Yorktown, and the Battle of Williamsburg under Generals Joseph Hooker, and George Stoneman. He was discharged disabled on November 25 1862.

Served with the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) Buford Post 238, Johnsonburg, NY from 1881 until his death from pneumonia, at age 76, in January 1917.

Served his community of Wethersfield NY as Justice of the Peace and local school board member. Active in many community social events, local and regional politics, and served as elected delegate for the 1904 Democratic Presidential Nominating Convention in St. Louis for Alton B. Parker, running against Republican Theodore Roosevelt.
