FORT WORTH - Mable E. Trott Fenley, 96, a telephone operator, died Friday March 21, 1997, at an area nursing home.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Funeral Home, Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mable E. Trott Fenley was born April 24, 1900, in Ector, in Fannin County to James Michael and Mary Emaline Barr Trott. The family moved to Oklahoma and Texas. She attended school in Stoney and Ponder. In 1919, she came to Fort Worth and went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. Several years were devoted to caring for her widowed mother and younger sister and brother. She married Charles L. Avery in 1933 and moved to Muskogee, Okla. Mr. Avery passed away Jan. 12, 1954 and she returned to Fort Worth to her family. At this time she went to work for the U.S. Post Office. In 1961 she married Rosamond R. Fenley. This marriage gave her a step-son, a step-daughter, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rosamond Fenley on June 6, 1979, her parents, sisters, Annie Maude Dumas, Mattie Pearl Stallings, Jewel Mae Trott and brother, Denton Trott. Family was the love of her life and the last years were shared with one of her five sisters, Fannie L. Garrison. She was a member of Ridglea Baptist Church and Eastern Star No. 420.
