The Register-News (Mt. Vernon, IL) Thursday, September 7, 2000 Mary Florence (Walker) Alsup, 81, of Urbana and formerly of Mt. Vernon died Sept. 6, 2000, at The Carle Arbours in Savoy. She was born June 4, 1919, to Charles and Myrtle (Simpson) Walker in Chaffee, MO. She married Carl Vernell Alsup on Feb. 5, 1940. He survives. Graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at the New Shiloh Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. The Rev. Melvin Larson will officiate. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Lee Alsup and wife Ann of Rockford; Ronald Dean Alsup and wife Eun Cha of Mascoutah; and Carl Richard Alsup and wife Barb of Champaign; four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Rector of Dix and Beatrice Keener of York, PA. Mrs. Alsup was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and two sisters.
